Burt Nabors- Dr. Nabors is his neuro-oncologist; he's
located on the 5th floor of Kirkland Clinic in the
neurology/neurosurgery suite. He's sort of the team leader at this
point. Most everything we do from here on out will be coordinated
through him. He's also the one conducting the ABT 510 clinical trial
study. Super nice guy, great with explanations, very informative and
approachable.
Barton L. Guthrie - Dr. Guthrie is his neurosurgeon; he's
located on the 5th floor of Kirkland Clinic in the
neurology/neurosurgery suite. He's the one who performed the brain
surgery and removed the tumor. Not much of a talker but seemed very
knowledgeable and was highly praised. I suppose we won't deal with
him a whole lot anymore unless he needs additional surgery.
Robert A.
Nordal - Dr. Nordal is his radiation oncologist; he's
located in the Wallace Tumor Institute. He's the one who's
coordinating his radiation treatments and mapping out the plan for
what and how much radiation he will receive. We meet with him once
per week, after a radiation treatment, to check in and discuss how
things are going. Very intelligent, great guy. My dad likes him a
lot and even though we were concerned at first about not being able
to see Dr. Fiveash (who they usually send the gbm patients to) we
are extremely pleased and thankful to be paired with him.
Lorie Black, RN -
Lorie is the research nurse and works with Dr. Nabors and the other
neuro guys on brain tumor research. She's the main one we deal with
on the clinical trial/ABT 510 stuff. She keeps up with what's
going on and we meet with her to get the drug and all the supplies
we need for the injections. She also keeps tabs on any side effects
he might be having as a result of the drug and answers any and all
questions we have. She's really nice and my dad seems to like
her a lot.
Katherine Lineberry
Mange, MSN - Katherine is one of Dr. Nabors' nurse
practitioners. She's usually the first one we see at appointments.
She gives him a quick exam and keeps up with his latest symptoms
and/or problems. She's also the one who removed his staples after
the surgery.
